When I first heard about dry shampoos, I was skeptical. The idea that a spray could make my dirty hair feel cleaner sounded ridiculous. So I gave Batiste Dry Shampoo a try on my sweaty gym hair, and I was impressed.
My roots looked and felt refreshed.
It’s not that “squeaky clean” feel you have after washing your hair, but definitely refreshed. And my hair smelled fantastic! The cherry scent is my absolute favorite of all the Batiste scents.
I also loved Batiste because it left my hair feeling silkier than the other dry shampoos I had tried. It felt less drying to me. I still had shine, no strong matte finish

Besides making hair feel cleaner, I’ve found two other uses for dry shampoo. They have benefits to clean hair, too!
On my clean hair, dry shampoo gave my roots a boost of volume.
It also added nice texture. My hair was not weighed down by the product.
And speaking of texture, that’s the third use I’ve found for dry shampoo. If you’ve ever tried to do an up-do on super clean hair, you know it can be difficult. Clean hair slips easily out of buns and chignons. Spraying dry shampoo onto my hair before trying to style it really helps it stay in place when I’m trying to put it up.
Dry shampoos are based on spraying powder (think cornstarch) onto your roots to absorb oil. A common complaint is the white color your roots can get from the powder. I’ve found that when I massage this stuff into my hair, the white color goes away pretty quickly.
Batiste has a solution for women with darker hair who may have more trouble blending – a line of dry shampoo with a hint of color to complement blondes, brunettes and auburn tones. They suggest these sprays with hints of color can help to camouflage root re-growth of colored hair. Softening the look of my roots? This could be life changing for me.
Bottom line: I love this stuff. I love it for refreshing dirty hair, and I love it even more for adding volume & texture to clean hair.
