Unsatisfied with yet another foundation, I went to Sephora on a mission to find a new one. I was in a bad mood about my skin, desperate, and ready to buy. Basically, I was suffering from skinsanity.
This normally does not have a good outcome, and results in bad decisions and/or expensive impulse buys.
The sales associate suggested I try a spray foundation. Really? Was this what it had come to? Spray painting my face? Did I look that bad? That drove me over the edge. I became legally skinsane.
So naturally I let her apply the spray paint. As one does.

I was expecting a thick coat of paint, but it was very light on my skin. The coverage is buildable, so you can use a little or a lot, depending on the look you’re going for.
It covers imperfections and evens skin tone without gathering in wrinkles. And it lasts! The finish is just what I am after: Matte without looking like a mask. Mother of pearl pigments even out skintone and diminish the appearance of fine lines, leaving your skin glowing with optimal radiance.
2 Different Methods of Application
Always shake well before application. It will sound like a can of spray paint, with that ball in the can clicking against the sides.
There are two ways to apply. I’ve tried both, and the brush method works better for me.
Do what suits your skindividual needs…
Method 1 – Aim at a foundation brush and spray about 2-3 puffs onto the brush.
I then dot the brush around my face, putting product where I want it, then I buff and blend. Use a little or add more to achieve your desired level of coverage. I use the Sephora Pro Airbrush #55. (Sephora also recommends using a kabuki brush.) Spraying directly onto my face doesn’t work well for me. Product gets in my eyebrows and lashes and it’s hard for me to blend it out correctly.
Method 2 – Use a headband to protect your hairline and tissues or a towel to protect clothing. Extend your arm straight out and bend elbow at 90 degrees. Spray directly onto your face in the shape of a Z, starting with the forehead and ending on the chin. Blend.
I have made many bad cosmetics purchases for which I can only plead skinsanity. For me, this was NOT one of them. Diorskin Airflash Spray Foundation is worth every penny. Great skin is the foundation of any look and worth spending the money, in my opinion. I just don’t wear it every day because it’s expensive and I like to save it.

My skin’s needs have changed over time. Foundations that once worked for me stopped looking so good as my lines and spots started appearing. It was time to let go of some old foundation favorites.
But as they say…
When one door closes, another opens.
And for me, a Dior opened.
