If you had told 20-something me that one day makeup brushes would be important to me, I never would’ve believed you. I was 20. I could rub a little foundation around on my face with my fingertips and my skin would look amazing!
Flash forward to now, in my 40’s it takes a little longer to get my makeup looking just right. Ok, a lot longer.
Anyway, I’ve found that a good foundation blending brush makes a huge difference. My coverage is more even, not streaky, and it helps to produce an overall smoother look.
I spotted the Dior Buffing Brush one day, and thought it looked like pure genius. It’s dense bristles were as soft as velvet. It was designed to give you the control of a brush, with the blending capabilities of a sponge. I wanted it!!!
What I didn’t want was the price tag! $49.50! Most foundations I own cost less than that brush!
What turned out to be a fantastic Dior Buffing Brush Dupe is actually a facial cleansing brush made by elf! The elf Cleansing Duo Face Brush looked a lot like the Dior brush, so I decided to give it a try as a foundation brush.

Look at those lush, whisper-soft bristles! Below is a picture of my own brush, and it is well-loved, so it is no longer bright white. The density of the fine bristles seamlessly blends your foundation, reaching spots often missed by fingertips. For me, the brush smooths the areas on my face with enlarged pores like no other brush.
If you’re interested in using this as a facial cleansing brush, the soft bristles are designed to deep clean pores. The blue side is textured silicone for exfoliation.
For me, it wasn’t the greatest cleansing brush. I prefer a fresh, clean washcloth. But I do love how it blends my foundation to perfection!
First, I apply my foundation to my face with my fingertips, tapping it all around. Then I blend with the elf Cleansing Duo Face Brush. It’s quick, easy, and works well with all my foundations and CC Creams.
It’s easy to clean and it stands up for easy drying. At $14, this Dior Buffing Brush dupe is a steal!
