I love a natural look, but sometimes neutrals can leave my over-40 face looking washed-out and dull. I’ve picked some of the best drugstore products that wear beautifully on over-40 skin. These are my picks for everyday makeup over 40 from the drugstore brands.

I tried different ways of applying this, and the best method for me was:

- Dot foundation all over face
- With fingertips, smear it around then pat it into your skin
- Use a fluffy brush to blend out to an even finish
This is more matte than dewy, but it’s not so matte that you look flat. I can’t believe how good this is. I haven’t worn Wet ‘n Wild since the 80’s! I’m happy to see it back on my vanity.
Be sure to exfoliate and moisturize before application. This foundation will cling to any flakes or dry patches. Moisture is key. If you’re oily, this foundation is perfect for you.

Physician’s Formula Butter formulas behave like powder and a cream, somehow. You really have to touch them to understand. They are powders infused with Murumuru Butter, Cupuacu Butter, Tucuma Butter, fatty acids and pro-vitamins that soften, condition and moisturize skin. The result is a silky, sort of diffused or air-brushed look.
These are never chalky. They melt into skin and look natural.
At around $12, these might be considered a little pricey for a drugstore product, but they are totally worth it. I’d say they wear better than many high-end brands I’ve tried. You get a lot of product, too.

I’ve purchased this in multiple colors because I love it so much. With a wide range of colors, you’ll find just what you’re looking for.
I have lip lines, so I need a lip liner that can stay put and not travel into those lines. These are creamy enough to apply smoothly, but not so creamy that they are easily squeezed into lip lines when you smile. Or talk. Or eat.
