It’s summer again and I want to be tan! I know it’s bad for my skin. But I also know…
Everything looks better tan.
To prevent more wrinkles for the sun, I wear my SPF. I hate it, but I wear it. I still get color, but not as much as I want.
To fake the tan I really want, I use bronzers. I use self-tanners, too, but bronzers allow me to strategically add color to just the parts of my face that get sun-kissed the most — mimicking the look of a day at the beach.
There are plenty of options at the drugstore, but not all of them wear well on over-40 faces. Here are my bronzer picks for makeup over forty.
NYX Pro Foundation Mixer in Warmth
This is pure genius. Add a touch of NYX Pro Foundation Mixer (shade Warmth) to your liquid foundation and create a warmer shade. It’s so easy and I love the results.
So if you want all-over color, this is a great way to get it.
You can easily turn your winter foundation shade into a summer shade.
It just warms everything up on your face, just like the shade name suggests! Or you can mix just enough to apply as a bronzer! A tiny bit goes a long way. I won’t be needing more of this any time soon.
NYX Bright Idea Illumination Stick
I have this Nyx Stick in Bermuda Bronze (pictured above), but there are more shades to choose from. This has shimmer in it, and for me, it’s a just the right amount. It adds a glow without accentuating my wrinkles. This stick is a quick, easy way to add color to cheekbones, top of forehead, bridge of nose — anywhere you would get natural color from the sun.
Physicians Formula Butter Bronzer
This has quickly become one of my favorite things ever. It’s a powder infused with buttery oils so it never goes on chalky or powdery. It creates this diffused, air-brushed look. This powder is very friendly to over-40 skin. They also make a Butter Blush, which is also amazing, so I included it in a drugstore favorites post.if you’re interested.
The sun doesn’t do my over-40 skin any favors,
so I’ve traded in my baby oil for SPF 50 and sun hats…
and of course my bronzers!
