There is one thing I am sure of in this life.  One truth that will never be in question:

Lighting is everything.

Bad lighting is the WORST!   I’ve kind of got a thing about it…

I try to create the best lighting in my house. Nice and soft — I’ve even used light pink bulbs because they’re more flattering.   I also try to put myself in the best lighting when I’m out.  For example, at a restaurant, I choose my seat based on the best lighting.  I never take a seat directly under a light, as top-lighting is just so ugly.

I am thankful my friends tolerate this about me, and sit in the ugly lighting.

But lighting may be most important when taking a selfie.  I can’t stress this enough.  Lighting is key, and this little $12 light that easily clips to your phone really helps my 48-year-old face.

I have changed nothing about these photos except I turned on the e.l.f. Glow on the Go Selfie Light.  The pictures were taken seconds apart.  No filters, no photo editing.

The light helps get rid of the shadows on my face which makes my skin look smoother, it brings out features (like lashes) that you couldn’t see before, and just makes for a better picture.  The e.l.f. Glow on the Go Selfie Light has three settings and works for both vertical and horizontal selfies.

I am giving this purchase a thumbs up.  If the Impressions Vanity Light is outside your budget, the $12 e.l.f. ring light works great!
In fact, I might start walking around with this light aimed at my face at all times.
