The Proven Skincare Cleanser, Day Cream, and Night Cream were gifted to me for review. I LOVE Proven so much, I bought the Eye Cream Duo myself. As always, all opinions are my own.
I compared two popular skincare regimens: Proven versus Rodan + Fields Redefine. Which brand best addressed my fine lines, wrinkles, and loss of firmness? The results of my skinvestigation are in.
Before getting into the details, I’d like to highlight the main difference between these two regimens:

THE SKINCARE QUIZZES
Both Proven and R+F offered a skincare quiz to identify my issues. Honestly, I’ve grown numb to these quizzes, as it seems like they all have the same questions. The Proven quiz was different and was the clear winner for me.
Proven has built its own database of information and uses artificial intelligence to compute the best formulas based on numerous factors. It’s unique Genome quiz considered elements like the average UV index, humidity level, and air quality where I live. That’s personalized skincare!
Proven Skincare used my zip code to determine the UV levels & air quality specific to where I live.
Both quizzes considered my age, skin type, skin tone, and level of sensitivity. Proven, however, went into greater detail.
THE PRODUCTS
I like simplicity. After all, a skincare routine only works if you can stick to it. My Proven routine included a cleanser and day moisturize for morning, and the same cleanser used with a night cream at night. Three products total! For me this is perfect, easy steps for maintaining a routine.
Proven products can be multi-taskers! For example, my cleanser is a cleanser, toner, and exfoliator in one! It is recommended that makeup be removed before cleansing, so I use Micellar water before using cleanser.
Proven uses ingredients from both nature and science; all are FDA approved and have been scientifically studied and proven to produce results.
I was thrilled to see some of my favorite ingredients from science, like niacinamides, working alongside natural ingredients like green tea extract and plant-based squalene. It’s the best of both worlds!
The Redefine R+F regimen is three steps each morning (cleanser, toner, protector) and three at night (cleanser, toner, moisturizer.) I am not a fan of toners, they are too harsh on my skin. It’s an added step that I would likely drop from the routine.
R + F offers the same “one-size-fits-all” formulas to everyone.
The R+F Redefine line was less detailed about its ingredients, listing broad categories like “botanical extracts” and “retinoid science.” It also includes peptides in both the morning and evening routines. Retinol is tried and true in the world of antiaging. However, it can be irritating and produce peeling and redness.
THE RESULTS
I noticed changes in my skin almost immediately, but I didn’t realize how much better my skin looked until one day I was writing a post that included a before/after of me without makeup and with makeup on. When I looked at my side-by-side, I thought…

My redness issues were gone. My dark circles lessened. Overall, my skin just looked healthier, firmer, and more evenly toned than it had in years. There wasn’t that huge of a difference with makeup on! At 52, I’ll take it!
