StriVectin Overnight Resurfacing Concentrate arrived on my doorstep promising a “glowing, pixel-perfect complexion in JUST ONE NIGHT.” Could the science behind this product really up my selfie game in ONE night?
I’m over 40, so that’s a pretty tall order. I was skeptical.
I applied the concentrate, which is a white fluid with a consistency similar to a serum, followed by my usual serum and/or moisturizer. After only one night’s use, I was EXTREMELY impressed with the results. There was noticeable improvement in smoothness. There were less little bumps, and lines seemed to have softened. “Overnight Resurfacing” had happened! My skin was bright, like a layer of dull had been lifted revealing a new surface. With regular use, results could only get better!
This concentrate left my skin feeling soft and hydrated, but honestly, I can get that much from most products. The part I was truly interested in was the resurfacing, the smoothing. Which made me wonder…
What exactly was in that bottle of “Magic Selfie Drops?” I’ve discovered it’s not magic, there’s actually science involved.
SCIENCE MEETS SELFIE
“The ultra-lightweight exfoliating concentrate, with a complex of five powerful enzymes, gently removes dead surface cells and promotes skin renewal for improved texture and clarity. Patented NIA-114™ technology helps strengthen the skin barrier, while delivery of moisture throughout the night leaves skin soft, supple and hydrated.” – Strivectin Website
ENZYMES were at work eating away that dull layer of skin! And remember, as we age, cell turnover slows down…leading to a dull look. Overnight Resurfacing Concentrate encourages renewal, pushing those dead surface cells out of the way so you can show off the new ones beneath.
And think about this, when you exfoliate layers of skin, you’re actually making a wrinkle just a little bit shallower. Wrinkles become less pronounced.
That first morning, I wasn’t posting a no-makeup selfie captioned, “I woke up like this,”
but I did like the results I saw in the mirror. Don’t forget, great skin is the best canvas for makeup.
And later that day, with makeup applied, I was feelin’ my selfie.
This product was given to me by StriVectin for consideration for review. As always, these are my honest thoughts. If a product doesn’t work for me, I don’t review it.
I used this one time only with the Strivectin skin tightening serum. Woke up at around 3pm face burning like crazy..ran to bathroom and the whole of my face was swollen and the color of beetroot. Today redness calmed down but I have swelling around and side of my eyes. So sad this did not work for me, but any advice on how to bring down swelling? It’s not permanent, right?
OMGosh! Tina, That’s awful!!! I wonder if the combination of the two products was too much for your skin. I’ve never tried the skin tightening serum. In the future, it’s a good idea to patch test a new product on a small part of your skin to see how you react to it. When my skin is irritated, Rose Hip Oil is my GO TO for soothing relief. I’d stay away from any harsh products until your swelling is down. Don’t wear makeup if possible. No scrubbing, just let that all settle down. That being said, I am not a dermatologist. If you are not seeing any improvement with the swelling, or anything gets worse, I think you should have a dermatologist check you out. I hope you are feeling better SOON!
