Note: Before adding anything new to your diet, research the side-effects and consult with your doctor. I am an aging tea drinker, not a doctor.
I drink a lot of tea…
In the winter, it comforts & warms me. In the summer, it’s a great beverage to replace bubbly, carbonated drinks that make my stomach look bloated..
I wasn’t much of a believer in tea having any real health benefits, and then I tried ginger tea and my opinion changed.
Ginger tea produced real results for me. I noticed it could settle my stomach, and it got my digestive system moving along. And that got me wondering, if tea could do that…What else could tea do?
Could tea improve my skin? They way I see it, if I’m going to be drinking tea anyway…
I might as well drink the ones that’ll make me pretty 😉
So I started reading about the best teas for glowing skin. Based on what I read, and my own personal taste, I have three of my own favorites to share.
WHITE TEA
Basically, I drink White Tea because…SCIENCE! Here’s what I learned: Free radicals are unstable molecules in your body that can damage the healthy cells, which can be aging. Antioxidants get into your body and help to stabilize the free radicals in there, decreasing their damage to healthy cells.
White Tea has the highest level of antioxidants of all the teas.
The high antioxidant level in White Tea is why you see it listed as an ingredient in so many skincare products. It helps with inflammation, and may even help to prevent collagen loss.
GREEN TEA
Green Tea actually comes from the same plant as White Tea, so it offers many of the same benefits to skin as White Tea. From what I’ve read, green tea also contains polyphenols that may help protect skin from the effects of ultraviolet (UV) light. Amazing!
I need all the extra protection from sun damage I can get.

It is thought that UV light accelerates aging, so having green tea helping to protect me sounds like a good idea to me. Green Tea also offers anti-inflammatory benefits, and can help prevent the breakdown of collagen, which keeps skin plump and healthy looking.
Plus it has tons of health benefits for your whole body, and I figure a healthy body working like it should will give me glowing skin.
Roobois Tea
Roobois Tea, sometimes called Red Tea, is packed with antioxidants to stop free radicals that seek to damage healthy cells in the body.
It is grown in South Africa, where South Africans have long known of its anti-aging effects.
Rooibos Tea contains alpha hydroxy acids that help to prevent and reverse fat loss under the skin.
As we age, facial fat loss can cause a hollow-eyed look, and give your face an overall droopy look. Rooibos Tea may help achieve a fuller, plumper and healthier look.
This naturally caffeine free tea tastes sweet, and a little nutty. I find it really comforting hot, and a pleasant treat when served cold on a summer day.
Of all the teas I researched, this one had the most articles that stated side-effects, and some were related to increased estrogen production. Before adding Rooibos Tea to your diet, ask your doctor if it is safe for you.
With so many benefits, why not drink tea? The antioxidants alone make them an excellent choice. Plus they just feel elegant. You can find Green or White Tea with Jasmine, which smells amazing. Or find other teas that you enjoy, like lavender or chamomile.
If nothing else, a hot cup of tea can be soothing, providing a much needed break in an otherwise hectic day. And that experience itself has its benefits, doesn’t it?
